RunRepeat found the Brooks Caldera 7 to have tons of cushioning and a plush ride, making it perfect for easy trails, while iRunFar noted that it strikes a balance between cushioning and stability, ideal for sustained comfort over varied terrain. However, iRunFar also found the shoe to be not overly responsive, with a flat-feeling ride, whereas RunRepeat praised its responsive performance. Road Trail Run agreed that the Caldera 7 has a stable ride, attributing it to the midsole platform width and bucket seat construction, and also noted that the new lug design provides better traction on technical terrain, although RunRepeat found the outsole to be a weakness, stating it could be better.
